Australia’s central Islamic body has condemned what it described as “shocking” footage showing NSW Police allegedly grabbing Muslim men while they were praying during a pro-Palestine protest in Sydney. 🕌

The demonstration drew around 5,000 people to Town Hall after a Supreme Court ruling blocked a planned march through the CBD. The rally coincided with the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

The Australian National Imams Council called the incident “deeply disturbing,” urging the NSW government to address concerns about civil liberties and community trust. Video shared online appears to show officers forcibly moving worshippers, sparking criticism from civil rights groups and political leaders. 📹

Police made several arrests and deployed capsicum spray after tensions escalated. Similar protests were also reported in Melbourne and Brisbane.
