Person Detained and Questioned in Search for Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mother

Authorities investigating the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie — mother of NBC Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie — have detained an individual for questioning, but no charges have been filed and the investigation remains ongoing.
Law enforcement officials from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI said the person was taken into custody during a traffic stop south of Tucson, Arizona in connection with the case, shortly after federal agents released surveillance footage of a masked, apparently armed individual near Nancy Guthrie’s home on the night she vanished.
The department also conducted a court-authorized search at a location in Rio Rico, Arizona, with assistance from the FBI’s Evidence Response Team.
Local news outlets later reported that the person questioned was released after several hours, and authorities have not confirmed that he was the same individual seen in the released footage or that any suspect has been formally identified.
Law enforcement continues to investigate, urging the public to provide credible tips and information that could help locate Nancy Guthrie.
