According to statements broadcast on Iranian state television, the Supreme National Security Council said that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei died early Saturday, February 28, at his office “while carrying out his duties.”

BBC Verify had earlier confirmed via satellite imagery that there was significant damage within parts of the Leadership Complex in Tehran, where his office is located. 🛰️

Tasnim News Agency, which is close to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that his reported death in the office refutes claims that he had been in hiding, calling such reports “enemy psychological warfare.”
