In April 2016, construction workers in Tomares, near Seville, Spain, made an extraordinary discovery while installing electrical lines in El Zaudín public park. Using a mechanical digger, they uncovered 19 large ceramic amphorae buried about a meter underground, filled with thousands of ancient Roman coins. 🏗️🔎

Although some amphorae were damaged during the excavation, several remained perfectly sealed, revealing an astonishing hoard of more than 50,000 bronze coins dating from the late 3rd to early 4th centuries AD. The entire cache weighed over 1,300 pounds, making it one of the most remarkable Roman discoveries in modern Spain. 🪙🏛️

Archaeologists later confirmed the treasure as the largest Roman coin hoard ever found in the country. The coins, many in exceptional condition, provide valuable clues about Roman economic systems, imperial authority, and how wealth was stored and protected during uncertain times. 🌍✨
