Highlander 2027

Rating: 5/5 Immortal Perfection
The Highlander franchise has been dormant for too long, burdened by bad sequels and a TV series that, while beloved, couldn’t escape the shadow of the original film. Highlander 2027, directed by Chad Stahelski (of John Wick fame), finally delivers the immortal epic we’ve always deserved.
Henry Cavill is Connor MacLeod, a 16th-century Scottish warrior who discovers he is immortal after surviving a mortal wound. Hunted by other immortals who seek his head in “The Gathering,” Connor must train, fight, and ultimately face the most dangerous immortal of all: the Kurgan (a terrifyingly charismatic performance).

Stahelski brings his John Wick expertise to the swordplay. The fight choreography is breathtaking—fast, brutal, and balletic. The film jumps between centuries seamlessly, showing Connor’s journey from barbarian to warrior to weary immortal. Cavill brings both physicality and depth to the role, capturing the weight of centuries of loss. The soundtrack, of course, features Queen’s “Princes of the Universe,” and when it hits, it hits hard.
The Verdict: The Highlander reboot we’ve been waiting for. Cavill is born for this role, and Stahelski’s action direction is perfect. There can be only one… and this is it.
