Drive Angry 2: Highway to Hell

Rating: 4/5 Vengeance Never Dies
The original Drive Angry (2011) was a glorious B-movie masterpiece—Nicolas Cage escaping hell, shooting demons, and driving a muscle car through the apocalypse. Drive Angry 2: Highway to Hell brings the madness back, and it’s somehow even more unhinged.
Nicolas Cage returns as John Milton, the immortal badass who escaped hell to save his granddaughter. Now, years later, hell has a new management, and they have a problem: Milton is a legend among the damned, an inspiration for rebellion. To prevent an uprising, the new Devil (a scene-stealing performance) sends a team of assassins—including a resurrected villain from Milton’s past—to drag him back.

Cage is in full Cage mode, and it’s glorious. He screams, he shoots, he drives a 1969 Dodge Charger through a church. The action is over-the-top, the one-liners are cheesy, and the 3D (if you see it in theaters) is used for maximum “things flying at your face” effect. A sequence involving a heist in hell itself is worth the price of admission.
The Verdict: A glorious, ridiculous, perfect B-movie sequel. If you loved the first one, you’ll love this one. If you haven’t seen the first one, what are you waiting for?
