Texas Executes LeJames Norman for 2005 Triple Killing During Home Robbery

LeJames Norman Executed in Texas

LeJames Norman, a Texas man convicted in the 2005 killings of three people during a home robbery, was executed by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville on Sept. 16.

Norman, 40, was the fifth person executed by Texas this year. His execution came after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his attorneys’ final request to stop the punishment.

The 2005 Robbery That Left Three People Dead

The case dates back more than two decades to Aug. 24, 2005, when Norman and his co-defendant, Ker’Sean Ramey, entered a home in Edna, Texas.

According to court records, the two men believed cocaine was being kept inside the house and intended to steal it. They did not find the drugs, but the robbery ended with three people being fatally shot.

The victims were Samuel Roberts, 24, Tiffani Peacock, 18, and Celso Lopez, 38.

Norman Was Arrested Months Later

After the killings, Norman fled the area and eventually left the United States.

He was arrested roughly five months later while attempting to cross back into the country from Mexico.

Norman later pleaded guilty to capital murder. His guilty plea left the jury to determine whether he would receive a death sentence.

His Legal Challenges Continued for Years

Norman spent years challenging his conviction and sentence through state and federal courts.

In his most recent appeal, his attorneys argued that prosecutors had presented conflicting information during Norman’s and Ramey’s separate proceedings and that this had affected the way Norman’s responsibility was portrayed.

His attorneys also asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stay the execution.

The Supreme Court rejected that request on the day of the execution, clearing the way for Texas to proceed.

Norman Had No Final Statement

Before the execution, the prison warden asked Norman whether he wanted to make a final statement.

Norman shook his head and did not give a final statement.

His sister, two of his children and a friend were present to witness his final moments.

He was pronounced deceased at 6:44 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

His Co-Defendant Faces the Same Fate

Norman was not the only person sentenced to death for the killings.

Ker’Sean Ramey was also convicted in connection with the three killings and received a death sentence.

Ramey’s execution is currently scheduled for Sept. 23, one week after Norman’s.

A Case That Lasted More Than 20 Years

The execution brings the legal chapter of Norman’s case to an end more than 21 years after the three victims were killed.

For the families of Samuel Roberts, Tiffani Peacock and Celso Lopez, the case has remained part of their lives for decades.

The proceedings have included convictions, appeals and repeated efforts to challenge Norman’s sentence before the final decision was reached.

Texas Continues Its 2026 Executions

Norman’s execution was the fifth carried out by Texas in 2026.

It also came after the state passed 600 executions in the modern era, according to the Texas Tribune.

With Ramey’s scheduled execution approaching, the long-running legal consequences of the 2005 killings continue to unfold more than two decades after the tragedy.
