In a world that never stops changing, Buckshot Smith was a constant in Camden. He began serving his town without pay, simply because he cared. What started as volunteer work grew into an incredible 65-year commitment to protecting and uplifting his community.

He wasn’t just enforcing the law—he was guiding teenagers, watching over school crossings, checking in on neighbors, and offering steady reassurance to generations of families. 🏫✨

KNOW THIS HISTORY: A group photo of the first eight African American police  hired by the Atlanta Police Department in 1948. The last of this group,  Johnnie P. Jones (2nd from theBuckshot served well into his nineties, becoming a living symbol of dedication and heart. When he passed away at 95, Camden didn’t just lose an officer—they lost a mentor, a protector, and a piece of their town’s soul. 🇺🇸🙏
