Discovered by a recreational diver near Haifa, this 12th-century Crusader sword was preserved beneath the Mediterranean for nearly 900 years.
Encased in marine concretion, the four-foot weapon features a long blade and heavy hilt, likely belonging to a knight traveling to the Holy Land.
The natural cove where it was found once sheltered ancient ships, helping protect the sword from total erosion. 🌊⛵
❗ The discovery offers a rare physical link to the medieval Crusades and the maritime routes of European knights.
Now undergoing laboratory conservation, the sword may soon reveal more about 12th-century craftsmanship and warfare.
