For years, Lady Gaga has talked about the roles she still wanted to play.

More movies.

More music.

More ambitious performances.

But when she was asked in 2025 what she wanted most from the next chapter of her life, the Grammy and Oscar-winning superstar gave an answer that had nothing to do with another stage.

She wanted to become a mother.

Now that wish has come true.

Lady Gaga, 40, and her fiancé Michael Polansky have welcomed their first child together, a source confirmed to PEOPLE on Sept. 11. Representatives for Gaga did not immediately respond to the magazine’s request for comment.

The couple has kept the milestone extraordinarily private.

No baby name has been announced. The child’s sex has not been publicly confirmed, and neither Gaga nor Polansky has revealed the exact date of birth.

But the new parents were recently photographed together with their newborn during a quiet outing in Northern California, offering the first public indication that Gaga had entered the role she had spent years saying she hoped would someday become the most important one of her life.

Gaga Had Been Talking About Babies for Years

The news may have arrived quietly, but Gaga’s desire to become a mother was hardly a secret.

As far back as December 2019, while discussing what she hoped the next decade might contain, Gaga said she wanted to continue acting — and have children.

Michael Polansky Became Part of That Future
