Starring: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, Gerard Butler, Élodie Yung
In GODS OF EGYPT 2: RISE OF THE SERPENT (2026), the fragile peace that followed Set’s defeat has begun to crumble, revealing a far older and more terrifying force waiting beneath the surface of myth and time. Egypt, once protected by the balance between gods and mortals, now trembles as the very order of the universe begins to unravel.
The gods have grown weaker. Their power, once absolute, is fading as faith dwindles and the world shifts into an uncertain new age. Horus, the rightful king of the gods, finds himself stripped not only of his throne but of the certainty that once defined him. No longer the invincible deity he believed himself to be, he must confront a truth far more dangerous than any enemy—power alone is no longer enough to save the world.
From the deepest shadows of the Duat, the ancient chaos god Apophis awakens. Older than the gods themselves, Apophis is not driven by conquest or vengeance, but by a singular purpose: to return existence to nothingness. With his rise comes an unstoppable tide of shadow serpents—living manifestations of darkness that spread across the land, devouring light, consuming temples, and swallowing the sun itself. Day turns to dusk, and dusk to endless night.

As the sky darkens and the Nile reflects only shadows, Horus is forced to seek out the one ally he once trusted most: Bek, the mortal who helped him reclaim his destiny. Now older and hardened by the weight of survival, Bek represents something the gods have long forgotten—the resilience of humanity. Together, they embark on a journey that will take them beyond the mortal realm, into forgotten temples, cursed deserts, and the depths of the underworld itself.
But the coming darkness cannot be faced by heroes alone.
In a twist of fate, Horus must confront his greatest enemy—Set. Once the god of chaos who nearly destroyed Egypt, Set now walks a path of exile and regret. Haunted by his past and stripped of his former glory, he is a warrior seeking redemption in a world that no longer trusts him. His return is met with suspicion and anger, yet in the face of Apophis, even the most bitter rivalries must be set aside.

Gerard Butler’s Set is no longer the tyrant of old, but something far more complex—a fallen god struggling to prove that even those who have embraced darkness can choose to fight for the light. His uneasy alliance with Horus becomes one of the film’s most powerful dynamics, as two former enemies are forced to stand side by side against a threat that seeks to erase them both.
Joining them is Hathor, brought to life with elegance and strength by Élodie Yung. A goddess of love, beauty, and hidden power, Hathor becomes the key to understanding the balance between light and darkness. Where Horus embodies duty and Set embodies conflict, Hathor represents harmony—the fragile force that holds existence together. Her presence brings not only power, but wisdom, reminding both gods and mortals that survival is not just about strength, but about unity.
The journey unfolds across breathtaking landscapes—golden temples collapsing into shadow, vast deserts consumed by serpentine darkness, and the surreal, shifting realms of the underworld where time and reality bend. Each step brings them closer to Apophis, whose presence grows stronger with every moment the world remains in darkness.

As the battle escalates, it becomes clear that this is not a war that can be won through force alone. Apophis cannot simply be destroyed, for he is a fundamental part of existence—the embodiment of chaos that has always existed alongside creation. To defeat him, Horus and his allies must confront a deeper truth about the nature of balance, sacrifice, and what it truly means to be a god.
The film builds toward an epic final confrontation where gods and mortals fight side by side in a desperate attempt to restore the sun before it is lost forever. But victory comes at a cost, and the choices made in the final moments will shape the fate of both realms for eternity.
At its core, GODS OF EGYPT 2 is not just a story of gods and monsters—it is a reflection on power, redemption, and the idea that even in the face of endless darkness, light can still be reborn through unity and sacrifice.
