After a two-year wait, Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender returns for its second season. Following a divisive but commercially successful first season (62% critics, 70% audience on Rotten Tomatoes), the pressure is on for Season 2 to deliver the iconic moments fans have been waiting for—Toph, Ba Sing Se, and Zuko’s internal crisis .

The series was renewed for Seasons 2 and 3 back in March 2024, with both seasons filmed back-to-back to ensure a smooth transition and to manage the young cast’s inevitable aging .

Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, June 25, 2026 . Production on Season 2 wrapped in May 2025, and Season 3 began filming shortly after . Executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani return, with Albert Kim continuing as showrunner .
The Story: Book Two – Earth
Season 2 adapts “Book Two: Earth,” arguably the strongest chapter of the original animated series. After saving the Northern Water Tribe, Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), and Sokka (Ian Ousley) journey into the Earth Kingdom to find an earthbending master .
The season’s centerpiece is the introduction of Toph Beifong (Miya Cech), the blind earthbending prodigy who becomes Aang’s teacher and a beloved member of Team Avatar . The teaser trailer released in December 2025 showcased Toph’s earthbending abilities and offered glimpses of the sprawling Earth Kingdom capital, Ba Sing Se
