The incident left the toddler with horrific injuries, including hearing loss, a new lawsuit alleges.
CCTV footage obtained by the California Post shows 23-month-old tot CK approaching the staff member and tugging at her arms.
The worker then begins to swing the child playfully in the air, at first low to the ground between her legs.
Yet she then swings CK up above her head and lets go, launching him into the air.
The staff member holds her hands out to catch the child, but the momentum is too great and he is thrown over her head.
She bends back to try and catch CK, but fails.
Horrifying video shows as she stumbles backwards and seems to land almost on top of the child, who lies in pain on the floor.
Toddler CK allegedly hit his head as he and the daycare worker crashed to the ground.

The aftermath of the incident
The boy’s parents Matt and Elena Kittle said he suffered a traumatic brain injury and hearing loss after the fall, in a lawsuit filed against El Segundo Bay Club.
The Kittles are members of the Manhattan Country Club, where children can be looked after at the nearby Bay Club Clubhouse.
Matt dropped CK off at the daycare before getting a call that “C.K. had fallen and had since calmed now”, the lawsuit alleges.
Papers claim the daycare then called back 15 minutes later, saying the toddler needed to be picked up but that the club “gave Mr. Kittle the impression that C.K. had only sustained a minor injuries”.
Papers alleged: “The right side of C.K.’s face was badly bruised.
“His right eye was swollen shut and his mouth was swollen. Upon arriving home C.K was extremely drowsy, lethargic, and irritable.”
The toddler was rushed to nearby Torrance Hospital to check on suspected blunt head trauma, where he was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, the lawsuit alleges.
An employee allegedly told the dad that the child had only fallen a foot and a half.
His parents disputed that their son had fallen such a short distance and demanded the CCTV footage.
They allege that CK was at least 6 feet in the air when he fell.
“C.K. is still experiencing symptoms from the traumatic brain injury including loss of hearing,” the lawsuit claims.
It alleges El Segundo Bay Club is not licensed by the California Department of Social Services.
Parents Matt and Elena accuse the Bay Club of negligence, battery, fraud, and emotional distress.
They are asking for an amount to be decided on by a jury.
The Sun contacted the Bay Club for comment.
