Over 500,000 power tools sold at Lowe’s urgently recalled over fire hazard risk

OVER half a million power tools sold at Lowe’s locations nationwide have been recalled due to a fire risk.

There have been several reports of tools smoking, sparking, or catching fire, prompting the urgent recall.

Several kinds of Kobalt power tools are under recall due to a fire risk

Several Kobalt yard tools, which are sold in-store at Lowe’s and online, are under the notice.

This includes the brand’s lawn mower, chainsaw, blower, and battery pack.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall after receiving 34 reports of various products smoking, sparking, and catching fire.

Approximately 554,780 Kobalt tools with UBS-C batteries are part of the recall.

All tools were sold in-store or online through Lowe’s between January 2026 and May 2026.

Consumers are being warned to stop charging the batteries with the USB-C port while the batteries are inserted in the power tool.

The recall was initiated because the of the risk of the batteries short-circuiting while charging, posing a serious fire risk.

All reports of smoke and fire have come from the USB-C port while charging.

No injuries or property damage has been reported.
