DNA likely matching Tyler Robinson, his lover Lance Twiggs found on towel wrapped around rifle near scene of Charlie Kirk shooting: FBI

DNA samples believed to match Tyler Robinson and his trans lover Lance Twiggs were found two key pieces of evidence linked to Charlie Kirk’s assassination, forensics experts testified Tuesday.

The samples were taken from a towel Robinson allegedly used to hide a rifle near the Utah Valley University campus and a screwdriver found on the roof near the spot where authorities claim the 23-year-old shot Kirk as he debated students at the college.

Two experts, one from the state of Utah and another from the FBI, confirmed the lab report in a Provo courtroom during the second day of a hearing to determine if Robinson will stand trial.

Two samples of male DNA seemed to match both Robinson and Twiggs, 22, with a high degree of probability, according to the results.

Robinson’s defense grilled Amanda Bakker, an FBI DNA examiner, on the accuracy of the tests and the degradation of the samples.

Twiggs — who has not been accused of any wrongdoing — was Robinson’s roommate and lover in the town of St. George, located about three hours from Utah Valley University.

Robinson allegedly admitted to shooting Kirk via text message after the fact and also left a note under Twiggs’ computer keyboard detailing his plot.

Prosecutors claim Robinson wrapped his grandfather’s rifle in a towel after the shooting and ditched it in a wooded area near campus.

The prosecution also played video clips allegedly showing Robinson prowling the campus the morning of Kirk’s assassination, where he chatted with Turning Point USA members and even stopped for lunch at Chick-Fil-A.

Prosecutors are set to show scores of items of evidence against Robinson, including a video interview of Twiggs — to whom the accused assassin allegedly confessed to the crime in text messages after the fact.

Robinson’s defense moved to keep videos of Kirk’s death and of their client’s movements from being shown, claiming that they could prejudice potential jurors.

The defense has also pushed to keep media cameras out of the courtroom, but District Judge Tony Graf has so far sided with the state — choosing only to prevent media from broadcasting certain graphic images.
