After Surgery, Relief and Uncertainty Walk Hand in Hand
The surgery is over, and for a brief moment, hope filled the room. Doctors found no blockage or obstruction, news that felt like the first deep breath after hours of suffocating fear. For her family, it was a small miracle—confirmation that the worst initial suspicions were not true.
But relief was short-lived.
During the procedure, surgeons discovered bloody fluid in her abdomen, opening the door to new and unsettling questions. What caused it? Is there an underlying complication? And most frightening of all, could infection be developing?
She has now been moved to the Intensive Care Unit, where she remains under close observation. For the time being, she is unable to eat or drink as doctors work carefully to stabilize her condition and prevent further complications. Each hour is monitored, each change scrutinized.
One concern weighs especially heavy on her loved ones: the possibility of losing her home dialysis catheter. If that happens, it would dramatically alter daily life, treatment routines, and the fragile sense of normalcy they have fought so hard to maintain.
The emotional toll is immense. Exhaustion has set in, both physical and mental, after days of constant vigilance and uncertainty. Sleep comes in fragments, interrupted by updates, alarms, and racing thoughts.
What remains is faith—quiet, persistent, and necessary. Whispered prayers fill the long hours of waiting, spoken in hospital corridors and darkened rooms. Hope is there, but it feels delicate, something that must be protected and held gently.
For now, she is stable. That single word carries enormous weight. It is enough to keep them going, enough to believe that tomorrow may bring clearer answers.
The journey is far from over, but they continue to stand at her side, holding on to the fragile promise that healing is still possible.
