Breakfast burritos sold in 8 states recalled over undeclared soy, meat

Breakfast burritos sold in eight states are being recalled because of undeclared soy and meat, federal regulators announced.
The recalled Sprig & Sprout Spicy Breakfast Burrito and Fresh and Ready Spicy Breakfast Burrito products were sold in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia at “grab and go markets and vending machines,” the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

The recall was initiated after two customers complained the products contained sausage despite being labeled vegetarian, the FDA said: “The inadvertent inclusion of sausage resulted in the presence of soy, a major food allergen, which is not declared on the product label.”
The recall is limited to burritos produced at Fresh & Ready Foods’ Charlotte, North Carolina, facility between July 9 and July 12, 2026, the FDA added. They also have a “fresh thru” date of July 20, 2026.

No allergic reactions or illnesses have been reported so far, but the FDA still cautions that people “who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”
