Terrifying police footage shows the moment a Florida man allegedly dropped his two young children into swamp water while attempting to flee officers following a suspected DUI crash.

Isaac Kinsey, 27, allegedly crashed his vehicle through a road-closure sign and into a construction area in Lakeland, Florida, during the early hours of September 9, according to the Lakeland Police Department.

He then allegedly fled the crash scene on foot with his two children — a 2-year-old and a 10-month-old — prompting officers to launch an urgent search.

Police Discover Two Empty Child Safety Seats
When officers arrived at the crash site, they reportedly noticed two child safety seats inside the vehicle.

That discovery immediately raised concerns that children were missing.

Police deployed drone technology while officers searched the surrounding area. The aerial footage showed Kinsey moving through a dark, wooded swamp while carrying the children.

The terrain was difficult to navigate, and Kinsey repeatedly stumbled as he attempted to move through the marsh.

Children Dropped Into Swamp Water
According to the police footage, Kinsey’s repeated falls caused him to drop the infant and toddler into standing water.

The area is known to contain alligators, adding another danger to an already frightening situation.

Officers eventually located the family in the swamp and moved in to rescue the children.

“Give me the baby! Give me the baby now!” an officer can be heard saying as he reached toward one of the crying children.

Both children were rescued and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Kinsey was also transported to a hospital, police said.

Suspect Allegedly Admitted He Was Intoxicated
According to authorities, Kinsey allegedly told officers that he had been intoxicated when he crashed.

He also allegedly admitted that his driver’s license was suspended at the time of the crash.

Police said Kinsey was taken into custody after the search. He faces multiple charges, including two felony counts of negligent child abuse with great bodily harm, along with eight misdemeanor offenses.

The Lakeland Police Department said the incident could have ended with the deaths of the two children and credited the department’s drone technology and officers’ persistence with helping locate and rescue them.

“There is no excuse for impaired driving,” the department said, emphasizing that the children survived and received medical care.

The disturbing footage has since highlighted just how quickly a suspected impaired-driving incident can turn into a life-threatening emergency — particularly when young children are involved.
