‘Highlander’ Star Christopher Lambert Collapses at Comic-Con, Later Reassures Fans He’s OK

Christopher Lambert gave fans at Steel City Comic-Con a major scare after the 69-year-old Highlander star suddenly collapsed while signing autographs in Pittsburgh.

The actor was taken from the convention by ambulance on Saturday, Aug. 8, after experiencing a medical emergency. His representatives later reassured fans that Lambert was “perfectly OK” and recovering at his hotel.

Lambert Suddenly Collapses During Fan Event

Lambert was meeting fans and signing autographs at Steel City Comic-Con when witnesses said he suddenly collapsed.

Emergency personnel responded and transported the actor to a local hospital for evaluation. The convention subsequently canceled his scheduled photo opportunities for the remainder of Saturday.

Organizers initially described his departure only as a “personal issue,” leaving fans concerned about his condition.

Actor Reportedly Suffered From Low Blood Sugar

According to Lambert’s representative, the actor had not slept enough the previous night and had eaten very little during the day.

His team said the lack of sleep and food caused his blood sugar to drop, triggering the collapse. They later said he was resting at his hotel and doing well.

Steel City Con subsequently confirmed that Lambert was feeling better and was expected to return Sunday for scheduled appearances.

Fans Relieved by Update

The frightening incident quickly spread among convention attendees and fans online.

Many were initially alarmed after seeing Lambert leave the venue in an ambulance, particularly because the actor had been interacting with fans shortly before the incident.

The later update that he was recovering brought considerable relief to supporters of the longtime movie star.

A Career Built on Iconic Roles

Lambert is best known for playing Connor MacLeod in the 1986 fantasy action film Highlander, a role that became the defining performance of his career.

He subsequently reprised the character in Highlander II: The Quickening and other installments of the franchise.

The French actor has also appeared in several other major films, including Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes and the 1995 live-action Mortal Kombat, in which he played Lord Raiden.

Another Health Scare Last Year

The latest incident comes after Lambert experienced another health setback in 2025.

The actor suffered a back injury after falling down a staircase at a hotel, forcing him to withdraw from a scheduled appearance at the SciFiWorld festival in Sweden.

His representatives said at the time that he was recovering from the injury and unable to attend the event.

Lambert Expected to Keep Meeting Fans

Despite the scare, Lambert’s team has indicated that the actor remains committed to his upcoming appearances.

He was expected to return to Steel City Con on Sunday and is also scheduled to appear at FAN EXPO Chicago the following week.

For fans who watched the beloved Highlander star suddenly collapse, the most important update is a reassuring one: Lambert is recovering and appears to be on the mend.
