CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) β€” In a court order made Wednesday by Judge Roger Young, Travis Wilson, one of the men accused in the fatal 2020 shooting that killed Tom DiLorenzo in downtown Charleston, was deemed unfit for trial.
The ruling comes after a series of competency hearings were held in June, with testimony from two mental health experts who said they believe Wilson is no longer competent to participate in criminal proceedings against him.

According to the testimony, experts claimed Wilson has a low IQ and ‘significant cognitive limitations’ that affect his ability to understand and participate in his defense.
Wilson is facing charges of murder, armed robbery, and assault in connection with the violent crime spree that ultimately led to DiLorenzo’s death.
This ruling comes just months after Wilson’s codefendant, Darcellus Fishburne, pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison. Charges against the third defendant, Jaylen Grant, remain pending.

According to court orders, the solicitor is to initiate proceedings in Charleston County Probate Court within two weeks to petition for a court ruling. Pending a ruling by the probate judge, Wilson is to be transferred from the county jail to a ‘suitable, secure residential or diagnostic facility. If offices are unable to find such facility, Wilson will be released to the custody of his parents and subject to strict supervision and electronic monitoring.
