The primary suite includes a large bathroom and access to what the listing describes as a personal wellness area.

The property is also surrounded by extensive landscaping and offers considerable privacy behind gated grounds.

Newsom, who has a long history in the wine business, was recently asked whether he had actually filled the cellar.

His response attracted attention because he said he didn’t realize the space could hold about 5,000 bottles.

Newsom said he had not filled it with wine and instead used the room to store books.

The Newsoms purchased the property for approximately $3.7 million.

The current $7.5 million asking price represents a dramatic increase in less than a decade.

The sale comes as the Newsom family transitions away from the Fair Oaks property.

The family purchased a home in Marin County in 2024, where their children attend school, and has increasingly divided its time between the two areas.

Newsom’s second term as California governor is scheduled to end in January 2027, making the sale part of a broader transition for the family.
