GAME OF THRONES SEASON 9

After the controversial final season that launched a thousand think pieces, Game of Thrones returns with a ninth season that feels less like a continuation and more like an apology. Season 9: The Long Night Returns picks up years after Bran the Broken’s boring reign, and thank the gods, someone finally fixed the writing.
The season opens in a fractured Westeros. Sansa rules the North with cold efficiency, Arya has disappeared west of Westeros (but not really), and Jon Snow is… alive? Yes, the fan theories were right. Jon didn’t stay dead in the snow; he was rescued by the wildlings and has been living beyond the Wall, trying to forget his treacherous family.

But peace never lasts. A new threat emerges from the far North—not White Walkers, but something older, something that makes the Night King look like a wight. Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, a resurrected Daenerys (Emilia Clarke, back with fire in her eyes) appears in visions, haunting Tyrion and questioning whether she was truly mad or just betrayed. The season weaves together old magic, forgotten prophecies, and the one thing the final season lacked: meaningful character arcs.
The Verdict: A messy, ambitious, but ultimately satisfying return to form. It doesn’t erase season 8, but it makes the pain hurt a little less.
Final Thought: Winter came. Winter went. Winter forgot to pay its rent.
