Injured Wildlife: Betty the Baby Squirrel Fights for Her Life After Cat Attack

Betty, a young squirrel preparing for her first winter, is now fighting for survival after a traumatic encounter with a cat left her injured and vulnerable. The incident occurred just as Betty had been diligently gathering supplies for her upcoming hibernation.

According to caregivers, Betty managed to escape the cat and return to her nest, but her condition quickly deteriorated. She began showing signs of illness—lethargy, pain, and swelling in her leg and tail. Despite her instinct to continue preparing for winter, Betty was too weak to forage.

Early this morning, Betty attempted to venture out into the sunlight but was overcome by exhaustion and pain. Fortunately, a boy named Adam discovered her and alerted his father, who rushed the little squirrel to a wildlife rescue center.
