Southern California Father Speaks Through Tears After Wife and Two Young Children Die in Apple Valley Crash
APPLE VALLEY, California – A Southern California father is mourning the loss of his wife and two young children after a devastating three-vehicle crash in Apple Valley that also left him and his teenage daughter seriously injured.
The collision occurred on the night of July 29 at the intersection of Apple Valley Road and Yucca Loma Road. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, investigators believe a northbound Dodge Caravan failed to stop at a red light before striking the family’s SUV, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving a third vehicle.
Family Devastated by the Collision
Authorities identified the victims as Theodora “Tedi” Wilson, 39, and her two children, Rose Valenzuela, 7, and Felix Valenzuela Jr., 6, who died at the scene.
The children’s father, Felix Valenzuela, who was driving the SUV, survived but suffered multiple serious injuries. Their 16-year-old daughter also survived after undergoing emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries.

Father’s Emotional Message
While recovering in the hospital, Valenzuela spoke publicly about the unimaginable loss of his family.
Fighting back tears, he said his wife and children “didn’t deserve” what happened and described the emotional pain of losing three loved ones in a single moment.
He also urged drivers to recognize the consequences of reckless or impaired driving, saying that one decision can change countless lives forever.

Investigation Continues
Investigators say the driver of the Dodge Caravan was also seriously injured and taken to a hospital. Authorities have not publicly identified the driver, and no criminal charges have been announced.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said drugs or alcohol may have been a factor, but officials emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that toxicology testing is still pending.

Community Rallies Around the Family
Friends, neighbors, and community members have organized fundraising efforts to help the surviving family members with medical expenses and funeral costs.
As investigators work to determine exactly what led to the crash, the tragedy has become a painful reminder of how quickly lives can change and the lasting impact serious traffic collisions have on families and entire communities.
