When Caspian Kerley entered the world, he weighed just one pound and faced less than a 50% chance of survival. Born extremely premature, his future was uncertain from the very beginning.

Shortly after birth, Caspian was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Norton Children’s Hospital, where he would spend the next 162 days fighting for his life.

For more than five months, every day brought new challenges. His tiny body needed breathing support, specialized feeding, medication, and constant monitoring as doctors and nurses worked around the clock to help him grow stronger. Progress came in small but meaningful steps—every gram gained, every successful feeding, and every milestone became a reason for hope.

Throughout the long journey, Caspian’s parents remained by his side, celebrating each victory while holding onto the hope that one day they would finally bring their son home.

That day eventually arrived. After 162 days in intensive care, Caspian was healthy enough to leave the hospital and begin life with his family.

Now, one year later, the little boy who once faced overwhelming odds is thriving. Full of smiles, curiosity, and energy, he is reaching the milestones that once seemed so far away.
