NYC Designer Found Dead on Montauk Yacht Was ‘Harassed’ by Boat Owner Days Earlier, Texts Reveal

New details have emerged in the mysterious death of New York fashion entrepreneur Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, including text messages showing that she allegedly felt “harassed” by the financier whose yacht she visited just days before she was found dead.

Nolan-O’Slatarra, a 33-year-old Irish-born swimwear designer, had reportedly blocked investor Chris Durnan on her phone when he sent a series of angry messages to her business partner, Dylan Grace, on Aug. 1, 2025.

The messages allegedly accused Nolan-O’Slatarra and Grace of financial misconduct involving their East x East business.

Durnan had invested $250,000 in the company in 2022, acquiring roughly a 13% stake.

According to text exchanges obtained by The Post, Nolan-O’Slatarra agreed to meet Durnan to discuss his allegations.

“Oh god . . . I’ll meet him Monday,” she told Grace.

Grace then asked her to unblock Durnan temporarily.

“Can you unblock him for the weekend,” Grace wrote.

“Did it,” Nolan-O’Slatarra replied.

But the messages allegedly became increasingly uncomfortable for the designer.

The following day, Nolan-O’Slatarra told Grace that Durnan was repeatedly contacting her.

“I’m getting harassed,” she wrote on Aug. 2, claiming he had sent her approximately 10 messages.

She also complained that he was accusing her of “ghosting” him and said he was “looking for attention.”

Two days later, on Aug. 4, Nolan-O’Slatarra met with Durnan.

That meeting would be the last known business encounter before her death.

According to a report by New York Magazine, Nolan-O’Slatarra met Durnan aboard his yacht, “Hell in a Bucket,” at the Montauk Yacht Club at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The pair reportedly took the boat out for a ride and drank champagne as the sun went down.

Sunset occurred at approximately 8:08 p.m. that evening.

They later returned to the yacht club and moved to Durnan’s other vessel, “Ripple,” according to the report.

What happened afterward remains under investigation.

Around midnight, emergency medical responders arrived at the boat and found Nolan-O’Slatarra dead.

According to an EMT report obtained by The Post, she was cold to the touch, had blood on her body and displayed purple discoloration beneath her fingernails.

She was reportedly fully clothed and lying on a bed aboard the yacht.

Durnan, meanwhile, was found naked on the dock.

According to the EMT report, he had summoned another man, who called 911 and attempted CPR.

Durnan has not been accused of wrongdoing in connection with Nolan-O’Slatarra’s death and has denied involvement.

His attorney previously told New York Magazine that Durnan removed his clothes because they had allegedly been covered in Nolan-O’Slatarra’s vomit.

However, the EMT report reportedly does not mention vomit, and Durnan’s clothing was never recovered.

The new text messages provide a striking contrast to an earlier photograph showing Nolan-O’Slatarra and Durnan appearing friendly.

The photo, taken in November 2022 around the time Durnan invested in East x East, shows the pair smiling together at a table covered with drinks, including champagne flutes and empty Guinness glasses.

Now, Nolan-O’Slatarra’s family is pursuing answers through the courts.

Her relatives have filed a $50 million wrongful-death lawsuit against Durnan in Manhattan Supreme Court.

“For months prior to that meeting, Martha had him blocked from messaging and only unblocked him at the request of her business partner to try to assuage Durnan’s complaints about the business,” Mike Bowe, an attorney representing Nolan-O’Slatarra’s family, told The Post.

“She agreed to meet him. She died at that meeting.”

The family has also launched a tip line seeking information that could help investigators determine what happened during Nolan-O’Slatarra’s final hours.

Grace did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Durnan and his attorney, Robert Holdman, also did not respond to requests for comment.

The circumstances surrounding Nolan-O’Slatarra’s death remain under investigation, and no criminal wrongdoing by Durnan has been established.
