Hancock 2

Rating: 3.5/5 Bad Reputation
It’s been over 15 years since the original Hancock surprised audiences with its dark take on the superhero genre. Now, Will Smith returns in Hancock 2, a sequel that asks a simple question: Can a washed-up hero stay washed-up forever?
The film finds John Hancock living a quiet, anonymous life in a small town, trying to atone for his past by… not existing. But when a new generation of reckless “supers” emerges—young heroes with powers but zero responsibility—the world needs a hero who doesn’t care about PR. Hancock is dragged back into the spotlight, reluctantly teaming up with a former enemy to clean up the mess.

Will Smith slips back into the role like a comfortable, dirty coat. He’s older, wearier, and funnier. The chemistry with a returning Charlize Theron (in a limited but impactful role) still crackles. The action is R-rated this time, with Hancock using his powers in creatively brutal ways. However, the plot meanders in the middle, and the new villains are forgettable.
The Verdict: A fun, nostalgic return for Will Smith’s most underrated hero. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a good time.
Final Thought: Some assholes don’t change. They just get older.
