The Walking Dead: Season 12

Rating: 5/5 Dead Reckoning

After over a decade of zombies, tears, and character deaths that still haunt us, The Walking Dead finally concludes with Season 12: The Final Chapter. And somehow, against all odds, it sticks the landing.

Season 12 picks up years after the events of the main series. The Commonwealth has grown into a thriving civilization, but peace is fragile. A new threat emerges from the wasteland—not zombies, but a charismatic leader who has united the remaining survivor communities under a banner of fear. Daryl (Norman Reedus), Carol (Melissa McBride), and the remaining original characters must make one final stand to protect everything they’ve built.

The season is emotional, brutal, and beautifully written. Flashbacks remind us of how far these characters have come. Cameos from beloved dead characters (including, in a dream sequence, Rick and Michonne) will reduce you to tears. The final episode, which gives each character a proper farewell, is perfect.

The Verdict: A satisfying, emotional conclusion to one of television’s most iconic series. Thank you for the memories. Even the traumatic ones.

Final Thought: We are the walking dead. But we are also the living. And we survive.
