Xena: Warrior Princess 2

Rating: 3.5/5 Greek Grit

The 2024 Xena reboot introduced Gal Gadot as the iconic warrior princess, and while it had its flaws, it set the stage for a larger mythology. Xena: Warrior Princess 2 expands the world and delivers more of what fans wanted: action, drama, and a touch of camp.

The film finds Xena (Gadot) and Gabrielle (a returning actress) wandering Greece, trying to atone for Xena’s bloody past. But when a new warlord rises—a former general of Ares named Kronin (Dwayne Johnson), who seeks to unite the Greek armies under his rule—Xena must confront her past and decide who she wants to be.

Gadot brings physicality and warmth to the role, though she lacks the edge of Lucy Lawless’s original. Johnson is having a blast as the villain, chewing scenery and throwing spears. The action is solid, with creative use of Xena’s chakram and Gabrielle’s staff. The chemistry between Xena and Gabrielle is the heart of the film, and their relationship is given more depth this time.

The Verdict: A fun, action-packed sequel that improves on the reboot. It’s not the original, but it’s a worthy continuation.

Final Thought: A warrior’s past is written in blood. Her future is written in choice.
