Five days before Sedgwick revealed their canoeing getaway, Bacon shared his own tribute to his wife.

He told PEOPLE that working with Sedgwick was “just great,” explaining that their familiarity meant she was there to catch details whenever he overlooked something.

After decades of marriage, the qualities that make them partners at home apparently translate to a movie set as well.

It is difficult to separate the professional story from the personal one.

They met because of acting.

They raised two children who became artists themselves.

And nearly four decades later, all four of them were able to walk onto the same movie set and create something together.
