Meg 3: Primal Waters

Rating: 3.5/5 Bigger. Deeper. Deadlier.

The Meg franchise has embraced its B-movie roots, delivering giant shark action with a wink and a smile. Meg 3: Primal Waters takes the series to new depths—literally.

The film finds Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) living a quiet life, trying to forget the megalodons of his past. But when a deep-sea exploration mission goes dark in the Mariana Trench, Jonas is called back. What they find is worse than a single Meg—a breeding ground of prehistoric predators, including a Megalodon the size of a city.

Statham does what Statham does best, and the supporting cast (including returning favorites) brings the fun. The CGI sharks look better than ever, and the action is gloriously over-the-top. A sequence involving a submarine being swallowed whole is peak Meg. It’s stupid, it’s fun, and it knows it.

The Verdict: Exactly what you expect. Giant sharks, Jason Statham, and absolutely zero brain cells required.

Final Thought: You’re gonna need a bigger boat. Actually, you’re gonna need a bigger planet.
