A DINER has been shot in the face at a packed Spanish restaurant as police launch an urgent manhunt to find the two suspected gunmen.

The victim was rushed to hospital covered in blood and in a critical condition after the ambush at a popular marina shopping area in Malaga.

Police swarmed the Lounge Bar Plaza just after 10.30pm last night after terrified witnesses reported hearing gunshots.

The Mediterranean eatery and lounge bar on the Muelle Uno waterfront was quickly evacuated as medics rushed to the side of the shot man.

He was seen lying on the ground with blood on the back of his white shorts.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

A spokesman for Spain’s National Police said this morning: “A shooting occurred last night around 10.30pm at Muelle Uno in the city of Malaga.

“A man, born in 1979, was shot in the face and was subsequently taken to a hospital in Malaga.

“The National Police have opened an investigation aimed at clarifying the circumstances of the incident.

“At present, no arrests have been made.”

Muelle Uno was packed out with revellers and young families overnight as a huge World Cup party was held in the area.

It comes as Spain continues to celebrate its second World Cup victory after Rodri and Lamine Yamal led the national side to victory in the US over the summer.

The famous gold trophy was paraded through the Costa del Sol streets before being put on show at the Pompidou Centre which sits just a minute from the scene of the shooting.

Days earlier, a 20-year-old man died after being targeted by three men believed to be Swedish nationals in a city centre square in Malaga.

Police are working on the theory the victim was mistaken by his attackers for a hitman.

The victim was shot in the leg and back in the horror broad-daylight attack.

He managed to stagger to a nearby supermarket to raise the alarm but died later the same day in hospital.
