SKELETAL remains of a student who mysteriously vanished after being involved in a horror car crash six years ago have finally been found.

Jason Landry, 21, disappeared without a trace around Christmas in 2020 after cops found the abandoned wreckage of his Nissan on a rural road in Texas.

Investigators found Jason’s phone and wallet inside the mangled car when they located the crash site as well as some clothes scattered nearby.

A cause of death has never been confirmed but police hope the newfound remains will shed light on what happened to Jason.

The remains were found on September 8, by a resident in Caldwell County – around 50 miles outside Austin.

A local resident thought he spotted a strange shaped ball when he was cutting his grass but when he inspected it he found it was a human skull, sources told KHOU 11.

DNA testing confirmed the bones belonged to Jason, the Texas Attorney General’s Office confirmed on Wednesday.

The man had been missing since December 13, 2020, after disappearing on a road trip from San Marcos to his family’s home in Missouri City for Christmas.

A Nissan Altima registered to the Texas State University student was found on a rural road in Luling as a search was initiated to try and find Jason.

Investigators believed at the time that Jason likely had a crash and managed to get out of the motor before he vanished.

It remains unclear what happened to him which caused his death.

Police have never found any signs suggesting foul play.

A $20,000 reward was announced as dozens of neighbours and family friends helped take part in searches.
