American homeowners face EVICTION under ‘life-threatening’ air-conditioning unit ban

AMERICANS are being told by a property management company to remove air conditioning units from their homes or face eviction.
Residents who are already on fixed incomes are battling for changes as the dog days of summer quickly approach.

A community has rallied against strict rules banning AC window units in a neighborhood

Yes! Communities is forcing residents of Countryside Village in South Bend, Indiana to go without cool air this summer
Residents of Countryside Village in South Bend, Indiana, received a letter from real estate operator Yes! Communities confirming that window AC units aren’t allowed in the neighborhood.
“If you have window AC units, you must remove them. After three violations, evictions can and will be filed,” read the note.
Although many residents own their trailers, Yes is able to evict them since they own and rent out the property lots.
While residents agreed to community guidelines stipulating the ban, nearby neighbors have still criticized the rule.
“I think it’s a little unfair,” said Stephen Dempsey, who has central AC but is concerned for his neighbors, to local NBC affiliate WNDU.
“I think they’re putting a lot of pressure on people unfairly, especially a lot of the longtime residents that are on fixed incomes.
“They can’t afford to just go buy a whole brand-new air conditioner unit.”
Dempsey also highlighted the health risk an uncooled home can pose to certain members of the community.

Trailer owners were warned of the rules before moving onto the property
“Especially for an older resident, anybody with any kind of health issues. It can be dangerous,” said Dempsey.
This policy is enforced by Yes at several other trailer parks, with an Iowa resident of a Yes community confirming she also removed hers for fear of eviction.
“I had to replace mine with a portable AC unit that will only cool one room. My window AC would cool my whole trailer.
“I hate living here because of them but I’m too old and too poor to get out,” she said to WNDU.
Yes! Communities did not immediately return The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
