Three people were shot inside a South Los Angeles assisted living facility Monday morning.

LAPD officers swooped on the Progressive Home for the Elderly on the 7000 block of Denver Avenue at about 10:50a.m. following reports of gunfire inside the facility.

Police told The California Post they received calls about shots being fired at the location and were at the scene in two minutes.

Authorities recovered a handgun at the scene believed to be the weapon the shooter used.

Early reports said the gunman was an employee who shot at his coworkers after he stated, “I’m tired of this.”

All three people wounded in the shooting worked at the facility, authorities said. One of the victims was hospitalized in critical condition, while the other two were listed in stable condition.

“They are all believed to be employees, suspect included,” LAPD Capt. Mike Bland told The Post. “The shooting itself is believed to have occurred in the lobby of building. He [the suspect] was located by responders inside of the building.”

“It was an act of violence inside the facility,” he added. “Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.”

LAPD described the victims as a Hispanic woman in her 40s, Black woman in her 60s and Black man in his 60s. Their names have not been released.

Cops described the suspect as a Black man in his 60s.

About 100 people live at the Progressive Home for the Elderly. The multistory facility serves low-income seniors. Dorothy Mobley, a caregiver who was inside the facility when the violence erupted, told KTLA she had only just entered the building when she encountered a custodian standing near the front desk.

Mobley said she immediately fled the building.

“I was surprised, I never would have expected that,” she told the outlet, describing the suspected gunman as someone who had never caused problems.

“He’s a nice guy, he don’t bother nobody or anything. He’s a good guy,” she said.

The suspected shooter was taken into custody, authorities said. Police have not released the gunman’s identity or disclosed what may have sparked the shooting.

The motive is still being investigated and police are interviewing witnesses.
