PLYMOUTH, Mass. — The jury deciding Lindsay Clancy’s high-stakes murder case has started deliberations for the day.

The 12 jurors – composed of nine women and three men – deliberated for 10 hours Friday before they were dismissed for the weekend.

Clancy – a former labor and delivery nurse from Duxbury, Mass. – wants the panelists to find her not guilty by reason of insanity on the grounds she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis when she strangled her three kids and tried to kill herself, worsened by a slew of powerful psychiatric meds doctors gave her.

But prosecutors have said she carefully planned the slayings because she was tired of taking care of the children and wanted to end her life and take them with her.

Jurors let go for the day after nearly 17 hours of deliberations, and request to go home

The jury was let go for the day, bringing their deliberations to roughly 17 hours.

They are due back in court around 9:00 a.m., Tuesday morning.

“Thank you for your time and work on this,” Judge William Sullivan told the panelists. “At this point I’m going to excuse you until tomorrow morning.

Before jurors were brought in, he told the lawyers the jury “asked to go home for the evening. We will ask them to come back tomorrow to resume the deliberations.”

Courtroom opens back up, jurors could be let go for day

Judge William Sullivan has let the jury go around 4 p.m. on the two prior days of deliberations, so they likely only have about an hour left to return a verdict before they are dismissed and asked to return again Tuesday.

Lindsay Clancy’s family is in touch with her ‘every day’

Lindsay Clancy’s family has been in touch with her “every day,” her lawyer, Kevin Reddington told reporters.

“They stay near the hospital so they’re able to visit with her every day,” the defense attorney explained.

The 36-year-old killer mom has been held at Tewksbury Hospital for the three years while her case played out.

She is paraplegic after she tried to kill herself the night of the slayings by throwing herself from the second-story window of her Duxbury, Mass., home.

Lindsay Clancy’s lawyer, Kevin Reddingon, said everyone involved in the killer mom’s tragic case are “human beings” and “hurting.”

The defense attorney was asked if it’s complicated and difficult to receive so much support in a case involving three kids getting strangled to death.

“Everyone involved are human beings and everybody is hurting,” Reddington said. “It’s not as simple as it seems to be.”
