The shocking moment horrified passengers swim to shore after an emergency landing off Haiti

The twin-prop Cessna 402B they were flying in, almost completely submerged in the sea

The panicked passengers can be seen swimming to shore after the Cessna 402B they were flying in crash-landed in the sea off Haiti on Wednesday morning.

Video shows the pair wading through shallow waters to safety at Ibo beach after their ordeal.

One manages to salvage a bag of possessions and bring they to shore.

Their plane can be seen almost completely submerged in the sea.

The two passengers and a pilot escaped the light aircraft after the water landing at around midday.

All three swam to a nearby beach where they were treated by emergency responders.

They all survived and were able reported to be in stable condition.

The plane had taken off from Cap-Haïtien, bound for Port-au-Prince.

But the twin-engine turboprop, operated by ZED Airlines, came down near Lafiteau just north of the Haitian capital.

A spokesperson for Haitian carrier said the lucky survivors were relieved there were “no human losses to regret”.

No details were released about the cause of the crash landing.

A full investigation was launched by aviation authorities and the airline’s technical team.

The plane, built in 1972, is being checked over.

ZED Airlines said passenger and crew safety was its absolute priority.

They added that the incident didn’t claim any lives thanks to the pilot’s expert handling of the aircraft, as well as a swift response on the ground.

It comes after a seaplane crashed into New York’s East river earlier this month, injuring a 75-year-old grandmother.

Alarming footage from inside the cabin showed the Big Apple‘s skyline flash by before a loud thud is heard.

The seaplane rocks dangerously back and forth before coming to a stop.

It was carrying eight passengers and two pilots when it plummeted into the river in a botched landing.

Khloe Todd, 16, said it had been her first time in a seaplane and that the incident had left her “traumatised”.

Two people suffered minor injuries, officials said.
