Shocking moment heartless cops call Brit woman who flew to US to be murdered by ‘sadist’ a ‘crazy freakin’ lady’

THIS is the shocking moment a heartless cop brands a Brit woman who flew to the US to be murdered a “crazy freakin’ lady” in a call to his mum.

The officer was guarding the woodland crime scene in Florida where Sonia Exelby’s body had just been discovered when his mum rang to wish him a happy birthday.

He answers the call and makes the callous comment before telling her how the 32-year-old Brit had travelled to meet a man she had encountered in an online fetish chatroom.

Sonia had vanished from her home in Southsea in Portsmouth on October 12 last year.

Her body was found five days later in a shallow grave in remote woodland in Marion Oaks, near Ocala.

The vulnerable digital creator had allegedly travelled 4,000 miles to America seeking a violent death at the hands of a “sadist” she had paid to torture and kill her.

Roadside mechanic Dwain Hall, 53, has been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping and is due to face trial in November.

He allegedly sexually abused and tortured Sonia before killing her at a remote Airbnb where the pair were staying.

In the newly obtained footage by the Daily Mail, the officer can be heard answering his mum’s birthday call while sitting in his patrol car beside the police cordon.

His mum says: “Happy birthday… we just wanted to call and say happy birthday.”

He then replies: “Well, thank you. How y’all doing today, you doing anything crazy?”

The officer then walks towards the cordon and closes a gap between traffic cones blocking the road.

Back inside the vehicle, he tells his mum: “We’ve got FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) here, we’ve got Interpol here, we’ve got all kinds of people here.”

When she asks what happens he replies: “This crazy freakin’ lady from the UK was talking to this dude online from Marion Oaks.

“She told him all her sexual fantasies, and he was like ‘I could facilitate that.’ And she was like ‘At the end of it I wanna be killed.’ and he facilitated that too.

“It’s and international thing because she’s from UK. I guess he was using her credit cards afterwards and stuff too.”

A shovel found at Hall’s home contained soil matching the burial site

His mum replied: “Wow, in Marion Oaks.”

“Yep,” he responds.

Sonia’s body was discovered as Hall was being questioned, with her identity later confirmed through her fingerprints.

A shovel found at Hall’s home contained soil matching the burial site, while blood on its handle was later confirmed as belonging to Sonia.

A post-mortem examination carried out a week later found she had been stabbed four times.

Other footage shows the moment Hall was detained after being pulled over while driving with his wife, Ginger Stein.

Hall appears stunned when he spots a Fugitive Task Force vehicle.

He said: “Fugitive Task Force? What the f***. What did I do? What could I possibly have f***ing done?”

He then demands to know what is happening, asking: “What the f*** is going on? I haven’t done anything. Are they at my house too?”

Hall also repeatedly urges police to help his wife, telling them she had recently undergone a double lung transplant.

But when taken for questioning, Hall appears remarkably relaxed and even jokes that cops had “taken away” his morning coffee.

Laughing with officers, he adds: “[You] gotta make sure I don’t hop the fence.”

In another bodycam clip, Hall complains about back pain while waiting inside a police interview room.

Hall had already been detained over allegations that he fraudulently used Sonia’s credit cards before being arrested by the FDLE over the murder and kidnapping charges.

Yet in transcripts obtained from Marion County Jail, Hall appears to blame Sonia for the horrifying chain of events while insisting he is no “monster”.

Speaking to his wife of 28 years, Hall admits: “I don’t think I’m ever coming home.

“It’s a lot to deal with, I’m sorry,” he tells Ms Stein, 44.

Appearing to refer to the $4,000 he told police Sonia had agreed to pay him, he adds: “We needed money but we didn’t need it this bad.”

Hall then rails against how he believes he will be portrayed once details of the case emerge.

“You don’t know how worried I am about losing you because when all the s*** about this case starts coming out it is going to look so f****** bad,” he tells his wife.

“I was trying to help somebody and humans have a tendency to screw you over and that is basically what happened. I am not the monster that they are painting me out to be.

“But we all know what the end result was – it was just compassion and love – I tried to give Sonia what she wanted.

“I tried to do it in a sense that was compassionate and not being a freaking monster and just picking a victim and seducing them to do whatever and taking advantage of them in any way shape or form.”

Hall accepts that “in simple terms there is no defence”, but insists: “I don’t believe I did anything wrong.”

Police have previously revealed that Sonia recorded footage detailing how she wanted to die.

In the disturbing video, she is seen sitting on a chair looking “dishevelled”, with multiple bruises across her face, neck and breasts.

Hall told police he used the name “alphasadist” on fetish websites.

He can be heard asking Sonia why she travelled to America, with the tearful Brit replying: “Because I am an awful person.”

She adds: “I’ve crushed everyone who ever loves me.”

Sonia then describes why she believes she is an awful person before Hall asks her “how” she wants to die and tells her to “describe it”.

After initially refusing to answer, Sonia eventually says she wants “to be stabbed”.

Hall then asks: “This is how you wanted to die, right?”

When asked if she is being forced to do anything against her will, Sonia shakes her head.

Hall then asks if she is “happy” and getting what she wants – and she nods.

Sonia’s final moments were detailed in a 13-page indictment filed in connection with the investigation into her death.

The tragedy has left Sonia’s family devastated, with her relatives paying tribute to the “truly beautiful person” they say was “kind, compassionate, and full of quiet love”.

Sonia, the youngest of six, was described as “deeply loved by all her siblings” and shared an “especially close and special bond with her sister Sara”.

Her family said she had built a life filled with love alongside her “devoted” partner of 15 years, Stevie.

Friends remembered her as “beautiful and caring”, with one saying they had “never known a soul with a bigger or purer heart”.

Her siblings described Sonia as the “softest most gentle soul” who was softly spoken and always gave the “best most intense hugs”.
