5 Injured After Light Rail Train and Truck Collide as Fans Travel to World Cup Fan Festival in Texas

Footage from the scene in Dallas showed the box truck on its side
Five people were injured after a box truck struck a light rail train in North Texas, resulting in major commuting delays.
The crash occurred on Wednesday, July 15, around 12:30 p.m. local time, when a DART train and a truck collided in downtown Dallas at Pearl Street Station, CBS News and NBC affiliate KXAS reported. When first responders arrived, they thought that people may have been pinned, but that was not the case, KXAS reported. Footage shared by the outlet showed the truck on its side in the middle of the street.
In total, five people aboard the train were injured, the outlets reported. The driver of the truck was uninjured.
Dallas Fire Rescue and DART did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
In an alert on social media, DART warned rail passengers that they should expect delays resulting from the incident near the station and that a shuttle bus was available.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience,” the organization said. Later that afternoon, service was restored, according to CBS News.
The crash occurred just as people were traveling to the FIFA Fan Festival at Dallas Fair Park in celebration of the FIFA World Cup, KXAS reported.
“Expect a dynamic mix of music, entertainment, live screenings, local culture, cuisine, and interactive fan experiences,” festival organizers wrote. “Free and open to all, the festival will showcase the passion and joy of FIFA World Cup 2026 —Texas style.”
