MIAMI, Florida — Courtney Clenney, the OnlyFans model charged in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors just weeks before her second-degree murder trial was scheduled to begin.

According to a statement released Friday by Clenney’s legal team, the agreement has been reached but will not become final unless it is approved by the court. The terms of the proposed deal have not been made public.

The agreement is expected to be presented during a hearing in Miami-Dade County on August 10.

In a statement, attorneys with Prieto Law Firm and Puglisi Carames Law said they would not comment on the specific provisions of the agreement until they are formally entered into the court record.

The attorneys also asked the public and media to allow the judicial process to proceed without speculation while the court considers the proposal.

Clenney, 30, has remained in custody since August 2022 after being charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Obumseli, who was fatally stabbed at the couple’s Miami apartment in April 2022.

Prosecutors allege the stabbing occurred following a turbulent relationship that had become increasingly volatile. At the time charges were announced, Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle described the couple’s relationship as “tempestuous and combative.”

According to investigators, officers responded to the luxury apartment after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, Obumseli was found suffering from a single stab wound to the chest, while Clenney was covered in blood, according to police body camera footage.

Medical examiners later determined that the wound penetrated approximately three inches into Obumseli’s chest.

Clenney has consistently maintained that she acted in self-defense.

Her attorneys argue that Obumseli assaulted her during the confrontation, alleging he grabbed her by the neck before she threw a kitchen knife in an attempt to protect herself. The defense has also described Clenney as a victim of domestic abuse and has argued that the incident occurred after a pattern of violence within the relationship.

Members of Obumseli’s family have rejected those claims, maintaining that he was the victim of domestic violence and disputing the defense’s portrayal of the relationship.

The case attracted national attention after Clenney, who was known online as Courtney Tailor, was arrested in Hawaii several months after the fatal incident. Authorities detained her while she was receiving treatment at a rehabilitation facility for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Investigators have said the couple began dating in late 2020 but were no longer living together as a couple at the time of the fatal confrontation.

If the court accepts the proposed plea agreement during next month’s hearing, it would bring an end to a criminal case that has remained closely watched for more than four years. If the agreement is rejected, the case could proceed toward trial under the existing murder charge.
