A normal walk quickly turned into a frantic multi-state search after 36-year-old Todd Sabatini left his McHenry, Illinois, home with his 22-month-old son Theo — and the pair never returned.

Police say the outing appeared unusual for Todd, who reportedly left without enough supplies for an extended trip. His son’s stroller was later found abandoned, while surveillance footage traced the pair through several locations before they traveled by rideshare to Wisconsin.

Authorities now have reliable information placing Todd and Theo in Milwaukee and are working with law enforcement agencies across Illinois and Wisconsin to locate them.

Theo was last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark shorts. Todd was wearing a blue-and-black flannel, gray tank top, jeans and Converse shoes, and police say he has since shaved his beard.
The search continues as authorities work to determine where the father and toddler went.
