Slipknot and Sid Wilson Part Ways After Nearly 30 Years
LOS ANGELES — Slipknot has officially parted ways with longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson, bringing an end to his nearly three-decade run with one of heavy metal’s most recognizable bands.
The band confirmed the split in a statement shared through its Knotfest social-media account, saying Wilson would no longer be associated with Slipknot and wishing him well in his future endeavors.
The announcement came after weeks of speculation surrounding Wilson’s status in the group.
A Nearly 30-Year Run
Wilson, known to Slipknot fans as #0, joined the band in 1998, shortly before the group released its self-titled debut album in 1999.
His turntable work became an important part of Slipknot’s distinctive sound and live performances. Over the years, he appeared on numerous albums and became one of the band’s most recognizable masked members.
His departure marks another major lineup change for Slipknot, which has experienced several personnel changes since its early years.

Announcement Creates Confusion
The band’s announcement has generated additional attention because the original statement was reportedly deleted shortly after being posted.
The message later appeared through the Knotfest account, while the band’s guitarist Jim Root had previously urged fans not to immediately believe everything circulating online about Wilson’s status.
The unusual sequence of events left fans wondering about the circumstances behind the decision.
Wilson himself has not publicly explained his departure.

Reports of Tensions
The split follows reports that tensions had developed within the band.
Some reports have alleged that Wilson’s behavior toward fellow band members contributed to the decision, but those claims have not been independently established, and neither Wilson nor Slipknot has publicly provided a detailed explanation for the split.
The departure also comes during a period of personal upheaval for Wilson. He recently separated from Kelly Osbourne, with whom he shares a young son. Osbourne has made several public comments about their breakup, adding another layer of attention around Wilson in recent weeks.

Wilson Signals the End of an Era
Following Slipknot’s announcement, Wilson reportedly changed his Instagram biography to reflect his years with the band, replacing a reference to being part of Slipknot with the dates 1997–2026.
For longtime fans, Wilson’s departure represents the end of a significant chapter in Slipknot’s history.
He joined during the band’s formative period and remained part of the lineup through decades of albums, world tours and dramatic changes within the group.
Slipknot has not yet announced who, if anyone, will replace Wilson for future performances.
For now, after almost 30 years behind the mask, Sid Wilson’s time with Slipknot has officially come to an end.
