The “Jolene” singer was laid to rest Friday, Aug. 28, at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, just three days after her death at age 80.

Her niece, Lainey Mae Parton, confirmed the emotional news in an Instagram tribute Saturday, revealing that the family had waited until after the private service before publicly addressing the loss.

“This is a really hard post for me to make,” Lainey wrote.

She explained that she wanted to wait until after her “granny” had been laid to rest before attempting to put her emotions into words.

Dolly’s final goodbye was exactly what she wanted

The funeral was described as a small, private ceremony attended by close family and friends.

Dolly’s nephew and longtime head of security, Bryan Seaver, was reportedly responsible for making the arrangements.

According to a source, the service was deliberately kept simple because that was what Dolly wanted.
