TWO missing teenagers were found dead with gunshot wounds in a wooded area just hours after they mysteriously vanished.

Leotis Phillips and Zoey Clark, both 16, were reported missing from their homes on Monday morning before the grim discovery that afternoon.

The two 16-year-olds were found dead with gunshot wounds in woods above the 6800 block of Glacier Highway in Juneau, Alaska

The teens’ bodies were found in woods above the 6800 block of Glacier Highway in Juneau, Alaska, at around 2.25pm, cops said.

A gun was also reportedly discovered at the scene as police launched an investigation into the pair’s deaths.

“Preliminary information indicates that both juveniles died from gunshot wounds. A firearm was located at the scene,” the Juneau Police Department said.

“Their bodies will be sent to the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for autopsy.”

Cops have not revealed the circumstances surrounding the teenagers‘ deaths or said who the firearm belonged to.

Phillips had first been reported missing from his home on Kanata Street at around 5.52am on Monday.

Clark was then reported missing from her Teal Street home several hours later, at around 8.49am.

Police believed the pair were together and warned during the search that they may have had access to a firearm.

Members of the public were urged not to approach the teenagers or attempt to contact them if they were spotted.

Phillips was described as an Alaska Native male who stood around 5ft 5ins tall and weighed between 140 and 160lbs.

Police said: “He has long black hair, which he usually wears in a ponytail, and brown eyes. Leotis typically wears a purple bandana around his neck, a black hooded sweatshirt, and brown pants.”

Clark was described as a white female who stood around 5ft 6ins and weighed roughly 140lbs.

Their families have since been informed of their deaths.

Police said: “The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.”

The Juneau School District is also expected to provide counseling and support to students and staff following the tragedy.

“The Juneau Police Department extends its condolences to the families, friends, classmates, and others affected by this loss,” cops added.
