Gloria Steinem and Christian Bale are two names most people would never naturally put together.

One became an internationally recognized feminist writer and activist.

Bale said he had been in Germany when the wedding occurred.

He learned afterward that his father had married Steinem.

There was no dramatic family confrontation in Bale’s telling.

No story about objecting to the marriage.
