A YOUNG girl was left sleeping next to her own mother’s corpse after she was beaten to death.

Police in one US city are still searching for a suspect believed to be someone the mother was dating.

Her father said she was beaten to death by a man she was previously dating

On Sunday, police in New York City discovered 27-year-old Lovay Williams dead in her home in what is being investigated as a domestic violence incident.

Family members of Williams said that her 7-year-old daughter was inside the apartment when her mother was killed.

The NYPD said Williams suffered fatal trauma to her neck and head, the New York Daily News reported.

Lovay’s father, NuQuan Williams, spoke out about the incident, saying that his granddaughter “witnessed the whole murder.”

“My granddaughter told the detectives everything, play by play,” NuQuan said.

“She has to suffer and she experienced a lot of trauma.”

The 7-year-old daughter was the one who answered the door for detectives when they arrived on scene.

NuQuan told PIX11 that the suspect called the police for a wellness check on Lovay.

According to NuQuan, his granddaughter told cops that the suspect tried to “clean” up after beating Lovay up, attempting to put her in the bathtub.

“After he put her in the bathtub, he tried to clean the house down. Put her back into the bed. Put the covers over her trying to think about his getaway plan,” NuQuan said.

“My granddaughter just laid next to my daughter as my daughter was ‘asleep.’”

The 7-year-old girl was unaware that her mother was dead.

Family members released green balloons on Monday to honor Lovay Williams

Police are still actively investigating the incident and have not named a suspect

Police have yet to name a suspect in the incident.

However, investigators believe that it is a man Lovay was previously dating.

“Anytime you put your hands on a woman, you’re a piece of garbage,” NuQuan said.

“For him to do that in front of my granddaughter, I’m just at a loss of words.”

According to NuQuan, Lovay had been dating a man for the past two years.

Family members held a ceremony on Monday night where green balloons were released to honor Lovay.
