The beloved grandmother found dead at her Long Island home last week was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend, who police killed on Thursday, authorities revealed.

Brandon Hampson, 55, was shot dead by cops in Massachusetts on Wednesday night after he charged at them with a knife outside a motel, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

Hampson was wanted for fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend Rachel Frislid, whose butchered body was found by a family member inside her Sayville home around 8:30 p.m. last Thursday, cops said.

Hampson was located by Suffolk County cops alongside local and state police outside the motel smoking cigarettes and “immediately he was ordered to surrender,” Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said at a press conference Thursday.

The suspected killer then “took a knife from within his clothes and went after several police officers,” before he was shot by responding officers.

“He was ordered with multiple verbal commands to stay on the ground to not go further,” the DA said.

“He got up with the knife and continued to go towards the officers where he was shot several times.”

Frislid’s ex-boyfriend was described as a “very dangerous individual,” whose “presence in Massachusetts posed a significant danger to the people of Erving” and the surrounding areas, Massachusetts State Police superintendent Geoff Noble said.

Hampson “presented himself armed with a deadly weapon” and “refused the commands of law enforcement,” Noble said at the news conference.

“He escalated the situation and left our law enforcement officers with an extraordinarily difficult split-second decision to use force in defense of their own lives and in the lives of others,” the superintendent added.

Frislid, 62, was a grandmother and business owner on the brink of retirement when she was killed.

“A heart of gold. Nicest woman you could have ever met. I don’t understand it,” Eileen Tyznar, president emeritus of the Sayville Chamber of Commerce, previously told CBS.

Frislid “has a beautiful, beautiful family that she always talks about. Her son and her daughter,” Tyznar added.

After her husband died several years ago, Frislid took charge of the family business, Academy Tent Rentals of Bohemia.

Tragically, Frislid hoped to retire soon and move to Tennessee to be closer to her daughter and grandchild, the publication reported.

“Now to hear that she’s dead, I’m just, I don’t know what to say, I’m heartbroken,” workplace tenant neighbor Peter Woram said.
