A BABY girl has been found dead inside a New York hotel as cops launch a probe into the mystery death.

The 16-month-old toddler was discovered unresponsive inside a room at The Belnord Hotel on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the NYPD said.

Horrified officers who found the body at around 12.50pm on Wednesday found no visible signs of trauma on the youngster’s body.

The cause of the tot’s death remains unsolved.

The medical examiner is now working to establish exactly how the child died.

The Belnord Hotel had served as one of New York City’s emergency migrant shelters for families with children since 2023.

Records show that contract with the Children’s Rescue Fund ended on June 30.

It is not yet clear whether migrant families are still living inside the hotel.

Police described the room where the youngster died as an “apartment”.

New York City’s Department of Social Services did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Rooms at the hotel can cost as little as $75 (£63.93) a night.

Cops are continuing to investigate the heartbreaking death.
