NASCAR star Bubba Wallace has been slapped with a massive 27-place penalty.

Fans have hit out at NASCAR‘s decision to penalize Wallace, 32, at the Quaker State 400.

Wallace was not allowed to keep his second-place finish from Sunday’s race at EchoPark Speedway.

He was handed a 27-place penalty from NASCAR in the early hours of Monday morning.

This has pushed him down to being placed as the last car on the lead lap.

It has been determined that the 23XI Racing driver had broken the rules during the final lap.

He had been battling for the lead with winner Ryan Blaney 32, and rising star Carson Hocevar, 23.

But he appeared to move below the yellow line at the bottom of the track to advance his position.

This is a violation of Sections 8.8.2.A of NASCAR’s rule book.

However, Wallace has argued with this controversial decision.

“It says ‘advancing your position,’ which I did not do,” Wallace said, via The Daytona Beach News-Journal. “I stayed third, and I was all over the brakes to make sure I did not advance.

“As soon as I turned, I’m like, ‘I’m going to wreck.’ I got on the brakes. He kept underneath me. Still ended up side-by-side. That move should’ve propelled us to the lead, and it didn’t, because I knew it was wrong.

But the decision has been upheld after a 31-minute meeting between Wallace’s team and NASCAR.

This has caused fury among fans on social media.

“He didn’t advance his position, he actually lost time, he was even lifting He ended up down there to avoid wrecking himself as well as everyone else,” one fan said on X.

“This is wrong,” another commented.

The result sees Wallace sit 13th in the NASCAR Cup Series.

NASCAR will next travel to the Window World 450 at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday, July 19.
