Worker Dies After Plummeting Down 30-Foot Septic Well at Construction Site Following Fight with Coworker

“It’s possible the man was pushed,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said of the incident
A 47-year-old man died after falling down a 30-foot shaft at a construction site in Southeast Texas.
On the morning of Monday, July 13, deputies responded to an incident at a construction site in the 15800 block of Sheldon Ridge Way in Harris County, Sheriff Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a statement.

“It’s possible the man was pushed,” Gonzalez continued. “He was pronounced deceased on-scene.”
Before the deadly fall, the victim had gotten into a physical altercation with his coworker, ABC affiliate KTRK, NBC affiliate KPRC and CBS affiliate KHOU reported. It is currently unclear if he fell or was purposefully pushed into the septic well station.
The 47-year-old man’s body was later recovered from the deep shaft by the local fire department, KTRK reported. The sheriff’s office confirmed to the outlet that the coworker and others at the site were detained as homicide detectives investigated the incident.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
Officials said that investigators’ findings will be presented to a grand jury, KTRK reported. So far, no charges have been filed and the victim has not been publicly identified.
